How Can We Trust the King James Bible?

By Blaze Hunter, NPPA Contributor for 9thwunder Magazine

People keep sending me things about the history of King James, the one who has a translation of the Holy Bible, and they pretty much are asking me how I can support a book associated with a man with that type of history.

Let me make this clear: King James didn’t write the Bible. He wasn’t a prophet, a disciple, or even a theologian. He was a political king who authorized a translation, the same way a president might approve a national project. Over 50 of the top Hebrew and Greek scholars of that time translated the KJV over 7 years, straight from the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. King James didn’t write a single verse.

So let’s be real. Judging the Bible based on King James’s personal flaws is like judging the quality of a house by the guy who paid for the blueprint, not the master builders who did the work.

And if we’re being honest, God has always used imperfect people to carry out His perfect plan. Moses was a murderer. David committed adultery. Paul used to hunt down Christians. But they were still chosen, still called, and still used mightily.

So yeah, maybe King James had some drama attached to his name. But the Word of God never did. The power of Scripture doesn’t rest in the reputation of any king — it rests in the Spirit that inspired it.

In a world where everybody wants to deconstruct something holy based on human error, I choose to stand on the truth. Don’t get caught up in the king. Focus on the King of Kings.
